Assembly TechnicianThis role focuses on performing precise mechanical assembly operations on components produced through 3D printing, CNC machining, welding, and sheet metal fabrication, transforming them into finished products that meet engineering specifications. The Assembly Technician reads and interprets engineering drawings and work instructions, uses a wide range of hand and power tools, and follows defined procedures to ensure consistent quality and reliable performance of assembled products. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in a dynamic manufacturing environment.ResponsibilitiesAssemble manufactured components into finished products by following engineering drawings, work instructions, and established assembly procedures.Perform mechanical assembly operations including fastening, bonding, fitting, and alignment of parts to meet specified tolerances.Use hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, and assembly fixtures safely and effectively during daily operations.Install hardware such as screws, bolts, nuts, washers, rivets, and other fasteners according to assembly requirements.Apply adhesives, sealants, and thread-locking compounds as specified in engineering documentation.Perform both sub-assembly and final assembly operations, ensuring adherence to geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) requirements where applicable.Verify part fit, alignment, and function throughout the assembly process to ensure components meet design intent.Conduct visual inspections to confirm that assemblies meet defined quality standards and cosmetic requirements.Identify, document, and report defects or quality issues to manufacturing leadership and quality engineering teams.Perform functional tests on assembled products as required and record results accurately.Maintain accurate assembly records, documentation, and data entries using basic computer tools.Follow first article inspection procedures for new assemblies and support validation of new products and processes.Retrieve components and materials from inventory in preparation for assembly operations.Maintain an organized work area and uphold 5S standards to support efficiency and safety.Handle manufactured components carefully to prevent damage during transport, handling, and assembly.Return unused materials and components to designated storage locations and assist with inventory cycle counts as needed.Follow all safety protocols and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).Maintain a clean and safe work environment and immediately report safety hazards or concerns.Support ISO 9001 compliance through accurate documentation and adherence to defined processes.Coordinate with manufacturing teams to confirm component readiness and prioritize assembly work based on production needs.Communicate with quality engineers regarding assembly issues, nonconformances, or potential process improvements.Support the shipping team with packaging and preparing assembled products for shipment when required.Provide feedback to application engineering teams to improve designs for manufacturability and assembly.Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic while contributing to a collaborative team environment.Essential SkillsHigh school diploma or equivalent education.At least 1 year of mechanical assembly experience or equivalent technical training.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and related technical documentation.Proficiency with hand tools and power tools used in mechanical assembly.Strong attention to detail with a consistent focus on quality and accuracy.Ability to lift up to 35 pounds safely and repeatedly as part of daily tasks.Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for precise assembly work.Basic computer skills for entering data and maintaining electronic documentation.Safety-focused mindset with adherence to established protocols and procedures.Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills in a manufacturing setting.Reliable, punctual, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.Additional Skills & Qualifications2+ years of assembly experience in a manufacturing environment.Technical certification or vocational training in mechanical assembly or a related field.Experience with precision assembly and working to tight tolerances.Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).Experience using torque wrenches and precision measurement tools.Knowledge of adhesive bonding and mechanical fastening techniques.Experience in contract manufacturing or high-mix production environments.Forklift certification.Demonstrated commitment to quality and pride in workmanship.Ability to adapt to changing priorities and production schedules.Self-starter mindset with the ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.Collaborative approach and strong communication skills when working with cross-functional teams.Why Work Here?This opportunity offers a contract-to-hire path, providing the stability of long-term employment with the flexibility of an initial contract period. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required as appropriate for tasks, and you will regularly use hand and power tools, torque wrenches, precision measurement instruments, and assembly fixtures.
